Apple is preparing a new secret weapon! Apple Glass is not just smart glasses

JAKARTA - Apple is back in the spotlight after the latest leak revealed that their smart glasses project, Apple Glass, is only a small part of the company's big strategy in mastering AI-based and computer vision technology in the future.

According to a report by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple is preparing three lines of AI-based wearable devices that are interconnected, not just smart glasses as has been rumored so far.

Apple Glass

Apple Glass devices are predicted to be direct competitors of Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses. The function is not much different in the first generation.

Apple Glass will be able to take photos and videos, receive phone calls, display notifications from iPhones, and play music. Users can also access the Siri digital assistant hands-free.

However, for those who hope for a full augmented reality (AR) experience, it seems they have to be patient. The AR screen technology is said not to be present in the first generation, and it is likely to appear in the next version.

Design Still Undisclosed

Interestingly, Apple is said to still be testing several different designs before deciding on the final version. There are at least four styles being developed, ranging from a large square-style frame like Ray-Ban, to a more minimalist oval and round design.

The materials used are also rumored to be more premium, such as acetate, not ordinary plastic. Apple wants to create iconic designs - like AirPods and Apple Watch - that are instantly recognizable as their products.

As for color, options such as black, navy blue, and light brown are being considered.

Most interestingly, Apple Glass is not a standalone product. It is part of Apple's big strategy in developing computer vision technology - the ability of AI to "see" and understand the user's surroundings.

In addition to Apple Glass, Apple is also rumored to be preparing two other devices:

AirPods with camera: This future version of AirPods Pro will be equipped with an infrared camera to "see" the surrounding environment without the need for a screen.

All of these devices will be connected to Apple's AI system, known as Apple Intelligence.

The ultimate goal is very ambitious: to make AI like Siri not only hear commands, but also understand the visual context around the user.

This means that in the future, Siri can provide answers or assistance based on what the device "sees" - for example, recognizing objects, locations, or situations in real time.

When is it released?

Apple Glass is expected to launch between 2026 and 2027, while other devices such as the AI pendant are likely to follow.

If all of this is realized, Apple will not only enter the wearable market - but potentially change the way humans interact with technology fundamentally.
