JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to increase cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of economy, energy, space, agriculture, industry and pharmaceuticals.
During the meeting between the two leaders in Moscow, Russia, President Prabowo expressed his appreciation for the Russian Government's support for Indonesia, ranging from rapid acceptance in BRICS and rapid improvement in cooperation in a number of fields.
"We consider Russia to have played a very positive role in dealing with this uncertain geopolitical situation. Therefore, we feel it is very necessary to consult on how we deal with the future situation," said President Prabowo, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, April 13.
"Especially if we can continue to strengthen cooperation, especially in the fields of economy and energy," said Prabowo.
The President said that almost all areas that had been agreed upon by the two countries had made rapid progress, although there were a number of areas that needed to be accelerated.
Regarding this, he said he would handle and oversee the issue himself, especially related to the monetary relationship between the two parties.
On the same occasion, Russian President Vladimir Putin conveyed an increase in economic and trade cooperation which last year rose 12.5 percent.
Although he mentioned a slight slowdown in bilateral trade at the beginning of the year, he believed that it could increase cooperation, especially in various fields.
"We attach great importance to the joint intergovernmental commission and we hope that during today's meeting, Your Majesty, we will have time to find shared solutions to continue to improve the partnership between our two countries," said Vladimir Putin.
Specifically, Vladimir Putin highlighted key sectors for cooperation between the two countries, including energy, space, agriculture, industry, and pharmaceuticals. He also highlighted Indonesia's membership in BRICS as opening up new opportunities to develop cooperation between the two countries.
