Prabowo will directly monitor the cooperation between Indonesia and Russia in the monetary sector

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto stated that he would directly handle a number of cooperation between Indonesia and Russia which were considered not to be optimal, especially overseeing the aspects of monetary relations, during a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin Palace, Moscow, Russia, Monday local time.

"There are one or two things that we need to accelerate and I will immediately handle it myself. Especially between the monetary relationship between the two parties, I will supervise myself," said Prabowo as monitored from the live broadcast of the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Monday, April 13, reported by ANTARA.

During the meeting, Prabowo conveyed that most of the agreements that had been discussed between Indonesia and Russia a few months ago had shown rapid progress.

However, according to him, there are still a number of areas that need to be accelerated.

Prabowo emphasized that he would take direct control of handling sectors that require acceleration, especially in monetary relations between the two countries.

In addition, Prabowo also expressed his appreciation to the Russian government for the support provided to Indonesia, including in the process of Indonesia's acceptance as a member of BRICS which was considered to be fast.

According to him, Russia has also provided support for various important needs of Indonesia in a number of strategic fields.

"In several matters that are very important for Indonesia, President Putin supports and gives support to Indonesia's needs," said the Head of State.

On that occasion, Prabowo also expressed his gratitude for President Putin's welcome to his visit despite the relatively short time in the midst of a busy agenda.

Prabowo revealed that in recent months he had met with various Russian delegations, both in Jakarta and in Moscow, including Russian officials and company representatives, with the results of the talks being productive.

"I have met with many delegations from Russia in Jakarta and also in Moscow, I have just met with some officials from Russia and some companies from Russia. I am very grateful because the conversation was very productive," he said.

Prabowo arrived in Moscow, Russia, on Monday (13/4) at 07.45 local time, to carry out a working visit to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

While in Moscow, the Head of State is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting is expected to be a strategic momentum to strengthen the partnership between the two countries, especially in the energy sector and other priority sectors.

The visit also reflects Indonesia's active diplomatic steps in building a mutually beneficial partnership with friendly countries. The Indonesian government considers Russia as an important partner in supporting global economic stability and growth.
