Janice Tjen Becomes the Sixth Seed at the 2026 Rouen Open

JAKARTA - Indonesian mainstay women's tennis player Janice Tjen has the status of the sixth seed in the 2026 Rouen Open which will take place this week.

The WTA 250-level tournament was held at the Kindarena Sports Complex, Rouen, France, on April 13-19, 2026. This is the 11th tournament that Janice has participated in this year's competition calendar.

Janice previously helped the Indonesian women's team achieve an extraordinary achievement by advancing to the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup (BJKC) playoff, an event that is the symbol of the supremacy of the world's women's tennis doubles.

The Jakarta-born tennis player and his friends secured the playoff ticket after completing the Asia/Oceania Group I series with the runner-up status. They recorded four wins and one loss.

The Indonesian women's squad, which was strengthened by Janice, Priska Madelyn Nugroho, Anjali Kirana Junarto, Meydiana Laviola Reinnamah, and Aldila Sutjiadi, was under Thailand.

The success of the Indonesian women's tennis team to the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup playoff is inseparable from Janice's contribution. The 23-year-old athlete was the determinant of the escape when facing Thailand in the last group match.

Janice managed to win two sets directly in the one-hour 30-minute match against Anchisa Chanta. Although the final result was Indonesia lost 1-2, it was enough to lock in second place.

Janice and her teammates won four matches against New Zealand, Mongolia, India, and South Korea. So, losing two sets when meeting Thailand made them still able to qualify for the playoffs.

After appearing at the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup, Janice immediately prepared for the Rouen Open. In that event, he will start his journey by facing Anna Bondar from Hungary.

Janice has not had good results in the singles in the 2026 calendar so far. His best achievement is being able to reach the third round at the Dubai Championship, which is a WTA 1000 level.

In addition to appearing in Dubai, Janice also previously competed in the ASB Classic, Hobart International, Australian Open, Abu Dhabi Open, Qatar Open, Merida Open, Indian Wells, Miami Open, and Charleston Open.
