Residents Complain That the Time of the Demolition of the Rasuna Said Monorail Pole Causes Traffic Jams, Pramono Explains the Cause
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung responded to public complaints regarding traffic conditions on Jalan HR Rasuna Said during the demolition project of the former monorail pole that often caused congestion.
Pramono revealed that the demolition of the pole had been completed. However, the project did not stop there. Pramono explained, currently the DKI Provincial Government is still arranging pedestrian lanes.
"The first for Rasuna Said, this is indeed in the stage of completion for pedestrians, especially we realize that there is a problem. Because it is impossible to build then there is no effect," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building, Monday, April 13.
Pramono is aware that the Rasuna Said area arrangement project, starting from the demolition of the pole, widening the road, to the arrangement of the sidewalk, occupies a portion of the road temporarily.
Thus, Pramono advanced the target for the completion of the arrangement of Jalan HR Rasuna Said after the demolition of the broken monorail pole. From the previous target of being completed in September 2026, it has now been accelerated to June.
The acceleration was carried out after all the old monorail project poles that stood along Jalan Rasuna Said were cut and cleaned.
"Hopefully the target is June 22, I will officially inaugurate it as a gift (HUT) Jakarta, and it will be something new. That Rasuna Said is more or less hopefully can be like Sudirman-Thamrin," explained Pramono.
It is known that the DKI Provincial Government has allocated a total of Rp. 102 billion for the overall arrangement of the area. The arrangement includes repairing roads, water channels, sidewalks, parks, public street lighting, and other supporting facilities along Jalan Rasuna Said. The actual cost for cutting the monorail pole is only Rp. 254 million.
