KPAI Urges Google, TikTok, and Roblox to Immediately Comply with PP Tunas to Protect Children
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) has called on all digital platforms to accelerate concrete steps in fulfilling the obligations stipulated in Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning the Protection of the Governance of the Implementation of Electronic Systems in the Protection of Children (PP Tunas).
KPAI member Kawiyan emphasized that child protection in the digital space can no longer be delayed, especially for platforms that are currently still in a non-compliant or partially compliant status.
"To platforms that are currently still in the category of non-compliant and partially compliant, the KPAI encourages the acceleration of concrete steps to fulfill all obligations in the Tunas PP. Protection in the digital realm for Indonesian children cannot be delayed," said Kawiyan when contacted in Jakarta, Antara, Monday, April 13.
According to him, the commitment of digital platforms must be realized in concrete steps, ranging from strengthening content moderation, child data protection, to providing responsive and child-friendly reporting mechanisms.
Kawiyan assessed that law enforcement against platforms that have not complied, including those who have received sanctions from the government, is a right step that should be supported.
"Sanctions are not only a form of punishment, but also an instrument to ensure behavioral changes and corporate responsibility in protecting children," he said.
Previously, the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) explained the level of compliance of a number of digital platforms with the implementation of the Tunas PP which came into force on March 28, 2026.
Meta was declared to have fulfilled its child protection obligations and entered the category of full compliance with the Tunas PP. Meanwhile, Roblox and TikTok are still in a partial cooperative status after submitting written commitments and making gradual adjustments.
Google was stated to have not fulfilled compliance with the PP Tunas, so the government imposed an administrative sanction in the form of a first written reprimand on April 9, 2026.
The KPAI considers that the responsibility of global platforms in protecting Indonesian children must be placed as a priority, in line with the increasing risk of exposure to harmful content and misuse of children's personal data in the digital space.
