BYD's 1,500 kW Flash Charging Technology Coming Soon to Europe
JAKARTA - BYD confirmed that its highly advanced new charging technology will soon be available in Europe. In the next 12 months, the company plans to build 6,000 Flash Charging stations outside China, including 3,000 across Europe. Citing from the Carscoops page, Monday, April 13, BYD revealed that this new hardware can generate up to 1,500 kW of power, making it the fastest charging device announced for Europe to date. Interestingly, this fast charging is not exclusive to BYD owners, because it uses the CCS2 connector and should also be open to other brands. Dealers selling BYD's luxury Denza vehicles will get their own branded version, while public locations elsewhere will only use the Flash name. BYD also plans to work with existing charging locations rather than starting from scratch each time.
As is known, currently several car models from BYD already support fast charging. In fact, its latest battery technology can charge compatible cars from 10 to 70 percent in five minutes, and from 10 to 97 percent in nine minutes. The first big beneficiaries in Europe are the Denza Z9GT and D9 DM-i. The Z9GT is a striking model, a fully electric shooting brake with three motors, a 123 kWh battery, and enough power to reach 62 mph in 2.7 seconds. Meanwhile, the D9 DM-i proves that plug-in hybrids can also participate. Its 58.5 kWh battery can receive up to 559 kW, allowing a five-minute charge from 10 to 70 percent and nine minutes from 10 to 97 percent. Will this fast charging technology be present in Indonesia? Given that BYD currently dominates the EV market.
