iPhone Fold Makes You Confused: September Release or Back?

JAKARTA - Rumors about Apple's folding iPhone are getting wilder and harder to predict. In the past week, reports on the launch schedule, delivery time, to the official name of this device have collided - creating one conclusion: Apple is not completely "readable".

A number of recent leaks say this device is likely to be introduced in September, following the pattern of annual iPhone releases. However, other reports indicate that new shipments will be made at the earliest in October, and have even been said to be delayed until December.

Saling Tabrak Leak

Japanese media Nikkei Asia previously reported a potential production delay, with an initial target of 7 to 8 million units. This sparked speculation that Apple was not ready for a major launch in 2026.

However, Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman actually dampened the issue by stating that the September schedule is still on track.

Meanwhile, the "Instant Digital" leaker on Weibo claims that production is getting more mature, even saying that the stock of folding screen panels has increased to 11 million units - up about 20% from the previous estimate.

If this is accurate, it means that Apple is no longer just an experiment, but is ready to go full throttle.

iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra?

Not only the schedule, the name of the device is also a mystery. So far, the public knows it as the "iPhone Fold", but the latest report says Apple could choose the "iPhone Ultra" branding.

This strategy is not without reason. Apple already has the Apple Watch Ultra line as a premium product, and the name "Ultra" can give a more exclusive positioning than just "Fold".

Interestingly, the same leaker also started using the name iPhone Ultra in his leaks - an indication that Apple may be locking in a new identity for this device.

Apple's Big Bets

Even though production is said to reach millions of units, one thing is still a wildcard: is the market really ready?

The folding iPhone is expected to target Pro series users, which have been Apple's backbone of sales. This means that the presence of this device could "eat" the sales of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.

In other words, Apple is playing a high-risk, high-reward game.

If successful, this could be the biggest design revolution since the first iPhone. But if it fails, the big hype could turn into a burden.

For now, one thing is certain: the folding iPhone is no longer a "if", but a "when". And the world is waiting for Apple to answer it - in their typical style, last minute but making a fuss.
