Joget Car, Akbar Faizal Ngamuk on Social Media and This is BYD's Response

JAKARTA - BYD Indonesia responded to the complaints of Indonesian politician Akbar Faizal, which went viral on social media (social media) regarding his BYD Seal Premium electric car which was problematic and had not been completed for four months.

Head of PR and Government BYD Indonesia, Luther Panjaitan, confirmed the information from their dealer network.

BYD Indonesia has also asked dealers to immediately communicate with relevant parties, including consumers, to collect complete and accurate information, to ensure that there is no miscommunication.

"Until now, the information is not completely complete, it is still in communication. However, we ask dealers to prioritize a quick response in handling each customer complaint first," said Luther Panjaitan in his statement quoted by Antara, Sunday, April 12.

Akbar Faizal conveyed his complaint through the X @akbarfaizal68 platform. The former member of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the period 2009-2013 and 2014-2019 conveyed that he bought the BYD Seal Premium on credit through Clipan Finance leasing. In December 2025, the car experienced problems because it often wobbled or "joget".

"The parties BYD, leasing, insurance and workshops selected by BYD throw responsibility to each other. For more than two months my car is unclear. Until they are handled by their workshop, it turns out that they have analyzed incorrectly and the dance is getting worse. I'm giving it back to them again, it's been 4 months without clarity," wrote Akbar Faizal, Friday, April 10.

In March 2026, Akbar had to postpone the installment of his car, although he eventually paid it. However, in April 2026, he decided to stop paying because the condition of the car was not clear.

"As of April, I don't want to pay. Clipan Finance people like crazy people call, collect. They use dozens of numbers, I ignore. Today, Friday, April 10, 2026, Clipan sent the first warning letter. They don't care about the fate of my car. If you want to pull the car, it's now in your office or in the crappy workshop you choose," wrote Akbar.

Akbar also sent a summons to BYD, Clipan Finance, insurance company Asuransi MAG, and highlighted the role of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) in this case.
