Thai and Vietnamese Pencak Silat Increases, President Prabowo: Indonesia Used to Train

Jakarta - President Perabowo Subianto highlighted Indonesia's role in the development of the martial art of pencak silat in Southeast Asian countries, especially Thailand and Vietnam.

This was conveyed by President Prabowo when opening the XVI National Congress of the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (IPSI) in Jakarta, Saturday, April 11. On that occasion, Prabowo said that many countries came to Indonesia to learn pencak silat, including Vietnam and Thailand.

According to him, these countries are interested in learning because Indonesia still maintains the purity of the art of pencak silat. However, after learning from Indonesia, the two countries managed to develop pencak silat rapidly.

In fact, at one time, the two had defeated Indonesia in a number of competitions. Although Vietnam and Thailand had surpassed Indonesia, President Prabowo was still very happy.

For him, this is proof that the training and teaching of Indonesian pencak silat is very effective. In other words, Indonesia has become a good "teacher" for these two countries.

Therefore, President Prabowo hopes that Indonesia can continue to maintain the purity of the martial art of silat so that more and more countries are interested in learning it.
