70 People Reactive For COVID-19 During Mass Antigen Test In Suramadu

SURABAYA - The Surabaya City Government stated that there was an increase of around 70 positive COVID-19 people during the mass antigen test which was held at the exit of the Suramadu Bridge towards the City of Surabaya, East Java.

Mayor of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi confirmed that as of 17.09 WIB, 70 positive motorists had been found after an antigen test was carried out in Suramadu.

"Even at the time of the isolation, it was found that one patient of the Husada Utama Hospital was escorted by four people. It turned out that the four people who delivered this were also positive. This is a danger if this happens, it can spread everywhere," he said, quoted by Antara, Sunday, 6 June.

The mayor said that based on the results of the joint meeting, his party held an antigen test in Suramadu. Initially, it was carried out randomly and only for residents with addresses in three sub-districts that are currently under "lockdown", namely Bangkalan District, Klampis District and Arosbaya District.

However, said Eri Cahyadi, it turned out that positive drivers were found from outside the three sub-districts.

"Finally, I coordinated with Mrs. Governor, Mr. Pangdam and Mr. Kapolda and Kapolres, we agreed to carry out all antigen tests. So, all motorists who will enter Surabaya from Madura must first have an antigen test here," he said.

Therefore, Eri Cahyadi ensured that drivers who will enter Surabaya and vice versa, drivers who will leave Surabaya and will enter Madura, must show a COVID-19 test.

If they have tested negative for COVID-19, they will be invited to continue their journey. "But if they are found to be positive after being tested for antigen, they will be immediately taken to a field hospital, or will be rushed to Dr. Soetomo Hospital or to Haji Hospital," he said.

The mayor also ensured that the screening and antigen testing would be carried out in three shifts and planned to last 24 hours every day.

It was emphasized that the isolation and antigen tests would continue to be carried out until further evaluation from the East Java Governor, Pangdam V Brawijaya and East Java Police Chief, said Eri Cahyadi.
