Sugiono Says President's Agenda to Russia: Energy and Geopolitics on the Table for Prabowo - Putin

JAKARTA - The meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and Russian President Vladimir Putin is certainly not light. Global energy and geopolitics are the two main issues to be discussed.

This was revealed by Foreign Minister (Menlu) Sugiono when he was met in Jakarta, Saturday, April 11.

He said that discussions on energy - including possible alternative oil supplies - were part of the agenda.

"This is very strategic for Indonesia," said Sugiono.

In addition, the two leaders will also discuss the rapidly changing global geopolitical situation. Global tensions, especially in the energy sector, have made many countries begin to rearrange strategies.

Indonesia does not want to be just a spectator. This visit gives a sign that Indonesia is starting to enter deeper into the global energy arrangement.

However, Sugiono did not detail the expected results. He only emphasized that the talks would include national strategic interests.

With the departure time very close, this meeting has the potential to be the first step for Indonesia to open a new path amid global energy pressures.
