UN Security Council Meeting on Maritime Security Scheduled for April 27

JAKARTA - The Director of the International Organizations Department at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kirill Logvinov, said a UN Security Council meeting on maritime security is scheduled to be held on April 27.

During the meeting, the Russian side will outline its approach to the issue.

"The next meeting of the UN Security Council on maritime security is scheduled for April 27," Logvinov said, quoted by Sputnik, Saturday, April 11.

"During upcoming events in New York, we plan to outline our fundamental approach to this issue, emphasizing comprehensive security assurance for commercial shipments from any country across the world's oceans," the department director added.

According to the diplomat, the issue of shipping is usually discussed not at the UN, but at the International Maritime Organization.

"Now, apparently, this topic is included in the UN agenda," Logvinov said.
