KPK Chairman Waiting for Results of Metro Police Investigation on Fake Employee Who Tricked Ahmad Sahroni

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Setyo Budiyanto invites the Metro Jaya Police to process the fake employee who extorted Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Ahmad Sahroni. The alleged extortion is believed to be thoroughly investigated.

"We just have to wait for the examination process at the PMJ," said Setyo through a short message to VOI quoted Saturday, April 11.

Meanwhile, when asked about Sahroni's efforts to clarify the KPK leadership when the extortion occurred, Setyo did not want to say much. He said, let the Metro Jaya Police explain.

"Whatever the result, it will definitely be conveyed by the Police," he said.

Information on the arrest of the fake employee who extorted Sahroni was conveyed by KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo on Friday, April 10. He said, a joint team from the anti-corruption commission and the Metro Jaya Police had arrested four people at a house in the West Jakarta area on Thursday night, April 9.

This act is suspected to have been carried out several times. They use the modus operandi of being able to arrange cases and claiming to be a representative of the KPK leadership.

"This is not the first time that the person concerned has done this, yes," Budi told reporters at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, April 10.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Sahroni said he was approached by a woman on behalf of the KPK leadership who asked for money as a form of support for the KPK. "So the chronology, there was a mother who came to the DPR and asked to meet me," said Sahroni through his statement.

"Then I met him and he admitted that he was an envoy from the KPK leadership and there he asked for money worth Rp. 300 million for the support of the KPK leadership," he continued.

The head of the DPR legal commission then confirmed to the KPK leadership and denied the existence of the messenger. "I immediately checked with the KPK and the KPK denied that there was a messenger," he said.

After receiving information from Sahroni, the KPK then coordinated with the Metro Jaya Police, followed by an official report from the General Treasurer of the NasDem DPP.

"I then worked with the Metro Jaya Police and the KPK to arrest this person by giving the money at his house," he concluded.
