Arsene Wenger Talks About The End Of The Ronaldo-Messi Era

JAKARTA - Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger discusses the changing era in football. Yes, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are nearing retirement.

Juventus star Ronaldo turns 35 in February. Meanwhile Barcelona captain Messi celebrates his 33rd birthday in June.

These two players have dominated world football and the Balon d'Or for the past decade. This is part of their battle in the history of the greatest footballers ever.

However, both Ronaldo and Messi are nearing the end of their sparkling careers. Wenger revealed that football was forced to change in the era after Ronaldo-Messi.

“We have never seen a player like Messi or Ronaldo. They are players who can make something out of nothing, but their careers are coming to an end, "Wenger said in an interview with Talksport, which was reported by Football Espana, Monday, May 11.

"Football moves, but the game will change when they retire.

"But we have a new generation of players arriving, with two successors in Neymar and Kylian Mbappe."

Ronaldo joined the Serie A giants at the start of last season, and he is under contract in Turin until June 2022.

Messi's contract situation has been the subject of speculation this season, following the captain's lack of agreement with club director Eric Abidal. Reportedly, La Pulga is in demand by Manchester City.

The Argentina international's contract at Camp Nou will expire at the end of next season. However, Los Blaugrana hopes there will be a new agreement in the coming months.
