BAC 2026 results: Two Indonesian representatives to the semifinals
JAKARTA - Two of the five Indonesian representatives who fought in the quarter-finals of the Badminton Asia Championship (BAC) or the 2026 Asian Badminton Championship managed to continue their journey to the last four.
The certainty came after the women's doubles Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti managed to overcome the sixth seed Rin Iwanaga/Kie Nakanishi (Japan) two games straight 21-12 and 21-16 on Friday, April 10, 2026.
"Alhamdulillah, his feelings are happy because this is the first time we have reached the semifinals in the Asian Championship, but the struggle is not over, there is still the next round," Amalia said in a statement.
This victory added a sweet note to Amallia/Fadia's record in this year's BAC. They previously also managed to pass the second round by defeating the third seed Baek Ha-na/Lee So-hee from South Korea.
In addition, this is also Amalia/Fadia's revenge on Rin/Kie, who previously defeated them in the first competitive clash at the 2026 Swiss Open in March.
"Breaking into the semifinals of the Super 1000 level is certainly happy because we have just been paired, but we want to play at the top level as soon as possible. Hopefully this can be a stepping stone," said Fadia.
Amalia/Fadia is one of two Indonesian women's doubles who fought in the quarterfinals. The other pair is Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum.
Rachel/Febi who played first had a different fate. They were stuck in the last eight phase due to losing to the fifth seeded Yuki Fukushima/Mayu Matsumoto, who also came from Japan.
Another ticket for Indonesia was secured by the men's doubles pair of Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri. The fifth seeded pair qualified after defeating Fang-Chih Lee/Fang-Jen Lee from China Taipei.
Meanwhile, the other two representatives who failed to reach the semifinals were the men's singles Jonatan Christie and the men's doubles Ali Faathir Rayhan/Devin Artha Wahyudi, who were beaten by world number one Kim Won-ho/Seo Seung-jae from South Korea.
