Preman Tanah Abang who went viral for breaking a bowl of porridge was finally arrested, asking for a share of Rp. 300 thousand per month.

JAKARTA - The Central Jakarta Metro Police has arrested three thugs who carried out a beating on a porridge seller in Kampung Bali Village, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.

"We brought three perpetrators, each of whom has the initials TDT, DA, and OP," said the Head of the Tanah Abang Metro Police, Central Jakarta Metro Police AKBP Dhimas Prasetyo, Friday.

According to him, officers received information about the crime of extortion at a coffee shop in the local area. In addition, officers also received a video related to the crime of extortion that went viral on social media.

Armed with the victims' statements, officers then arrested three people known to be residents of Bali Village, who were suspected of being perpetrators of extortion against porridge traders and also coffee shops.

"The reporter was trading porridge, then three perpetrators came asking for Rp300,000 in security allowance while threatening to stab if it was not given," said Dhimas.

Currently, the three extortioners are still being interrogated by the police. The three of them have also undergone urine tests with positive results for methamphetamine.

Dhimas said the three perpetrators are currently at the Tanah Abang Police to undergo further processing, and officers are also completing the report.

"We confiscated sharp weapons. In addition, for the abuse of narcotics, we are also in the process," said Dhimas.
