Foreign Minister Araghchi Leads Iran's Negotiating Delegation in Islamabad, US Represented by Vice President JD Vance?
JAKARTA - Iranian Foreign Minister (Menlu) Abbas Araghchi and Speaker of Parliament Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf led a negotiating delegation in Islamabad, Pakistan, in an effort to reach an Iran-US ceasefire.
According to a report by the Wall Street Journal citing sources, senior figures from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) are also expected to attend the ceasefire talks with the US, which are scheduled to take place today, Friday, April 10.
Meanwhile, The Guardian reported that the White House confirmed that the US delegation in this negotiation would be led by US Vice President JD Vance accompanied by special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
If the arrival of the Iranian delegation in Islamabad on Thursday evening, April 9 local time, the US negotiating team is scheduled to arrive on Friday, April 10.
The delegates who have arrived are reported to be staying at the exclusive five-star Serena hotel in Islamabad.
Roads within a 3-kilometer radius of the hotel have been sterilized under military control and the hotel has been emptied of guests.
