Electricity in Jakarta went out last night, Pramono: Don't happen again

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung spoke up about the power outage that occurred in several areas of Jakarta on Thursday evening, April 9. The disruption directly affected various public services, including mass transportation operations.

The power outage is known to disrupt MRT Jakarta and LRT services which depend on electricity supply for its operations. This condition has caused inconvenience for people who are still active at night.

"This blackout is entirely the responsibility of PLN, but the impact on us. One of them is the MRT, then the LRT is also affected," said Pramono in Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta, Friday, April 10.

Pramono emphasized that although the authority was with PT PLN (Persero), the impact was felt directly by the local government and the community. Therefore, he hopes that similar incidents will not be repeated.

"Of course we hope that this will not happen again because now this energy is something that is very important that the community needs because with this long war," said Pramono.

On the other hand, Pramono also touched on the importance of energy efficiency in the midst of an unstable global situation. He expressed his support for the President's direction regarding energy savings, including the implementation of work from home or work from home (WFH).

However, he ensured that the policy would not interfere with essential public services. The apparatus serving in the service sector is still asked to work as usual.

"I still ask them to work as usual regarding public services," he continued.

Previously, PT PLN (Persero) through PLN UID Jakarta Raya spoke up regarding the blackout that occurred last night. Senior Manager of Communication and Public Relations of PLN UID Jakarta Raya Haris Andika said that there was a disruption in the supply of electricity in several areas of Jakarta which was sourced from several Substations (GI).

"Currently, the area that is still affected by the blackout is the Angke area and its surroundings," he said in a statement to the media, Thursday, April 9.
