Indonesia Disarankan Keluar dari BoP, DPR: Presiden Punya Pertimbangan Strategis
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the DPR, Dave Laksono, responded to the insistence of a number of parties who asked Indonesia to withdraw from the Board of Piece (BoP) membership after Israel launched an attack on Beirut in the midst of a ceasefire carried out by the United States and Iran. According to Dave, Indonesia's attitude in the BoP membership has certainly been considered carefully by President Prabowo Subianto.
"Regarding BoP, of course we refer to the president's decision. We will see the outline, but there are many considerations before he makes a decision to join BoP," Dave said when confirmed by VOI, Friday, April 10.
Dave said that Indonesia has joined many international organizations, one of which is BRICS in the economic field. Meanwhile, for security and peace, he assessed, the President must have his own reasons why Indonesia must join the BoP.
"There are also many Indonesians who join international forums such as BRICS, but that is related to the economy. If the BoP is related to peace and this involves our soldiers being present in foreign countries, then this is indeed still a consideration," he said.
"And the president's decision taken is not thinking about one or two sides, but seeing various sides," continued the Golkar politician.
Previously, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) spoke up in response to the demands of a number of parties who asked Indonesia to withdraw from the BoP membership after the United States and Israel launched an attack on Iran.
Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Yvonne Mewengkang, emphasized that every Indonesian foreign policy, including the decision to join the BoP, is always taken by considering national interests and constitutional principles.
"Every Indonesian foreign policy is taken into account with the principles of the constitution, national interests, and Indonesia's commitment to the Palestinian independence struggle and sustainable peace," Yvonne said at a press conference in Jakarta, Friday, March 6.
