Minister of Culture Suggests Senior Artist Jaja Miharja to Receive Cultural Star
JAKARTA - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon received a visit from senior Betawi artist, Jaja Miharja, at the Ministry of Culture's office, Jakarta, Thursday, April 9. During the meeting, Fadli conveyed that the Ministry of Culture had proposed the award of the Parama Dharma Cultural Star to Jaja Miharja.
The proposal was submitted to the President of the Republic of Indonesia through the mechanism of the Degree, Service, and Honor Board. According to Fadli, the proposal was given for Jaja Miharja's service and dedication in the field of culture, especially music.
During the meeting, Jaja Miharja's career journey was also discussed, which has produced at least 20 solo albums. In addition, various other recording works that he has produced in cassette, vinyl, and CD formats, including his involvement in a number of music productions, were also discussed.
The ministry also discussed the possibility of support for documentation of Jaja Miharja's career journey. One of the schemes mentioned was the IndonesiaRaya Fund, a funding program that can be utilized by the community and art practitioners through the submission of cultural activity proposals.
"Indonesia Raya funds are funds that can be used by the community, by artists or individuals. If there is an idea, it can be funded through registration and proposals in accordance with the applicable scheme," said Fadli.
In addition, the discussion also touched on the history of Indonesian music, including the development of musical groups in the 1960s, stage experiences, and the dynamics of musical performances that are part of the national cultural ecosystem.
Fadli also expressed his appreciation for Jaja Miharja's work spirit. At the age of 84, Jaja is considered to still show good condition and remain active in art activities.
