Cirebon Child Abduction Modus Operandi Iming-iming Food, Arrested
Cirebon - The Cirebon City Police (Polres) arrested a man with the initials DW (45) who was suspected of kidnapping and molesting minors in Cirebon, West Java.
"The perpetrator is currently secured and has been named a suspect after a case was held," said Deputy Head of the Cirebon City Police, Kompol Dede Kasmadi, quoted by Antara, Thursday, April 9.
He said the incident occurred on Monday, April 6 at around 13.00 WIB, when the perpetrator approached the victim, who was an 8-year-old girl.
Dede said the perpetrator allegedly used the modus operandi of persuading the victim, by offering food and ice cream so that the victim would follow the perpetrator.
"The victim was then taken by motorcycle to the perpetrator's residence without the consent and knowledge of the victim's parents," he said.
He explained that the victim was taken to the perpetrator's house in Mundu District, Cirebon and was at the location from Monday to Wednesday morning.
While at the perpetrator's residence, he said, the victim was not allowed to return home and was under the control of the perpetrator.
He said the results of the initial medical examination showed that the victim was found to have injuries on several parts of the body allegedly due to the act of molestation committed by the perpetrator.
"The wound was known from the results of the medical examination and the visa that had been carried out. The victim was then sent home by the perpetrator to his residence on Wednesday (8/4) at around 04.30 WIB," he said.
Dede said the victim and the perpetrator did not know each other before, so the victim was allegedly chosen randomly.
His party is currently still investigating the entire series of events, including the possibility of other criminal acts in the case.
The police ensured that the investigation was carried out thoroughly, to uncover all the facts and prosecute the perpetrators in accordance with applicable laws.
"The victim is currently in the process of recovery and receiving psychological assistance and trauma healing," he said.
