Minister of Religion asks for acceleration of transformation of UIN Jakarta Hospital, the education of specialist doctors is in the spotlight

JAKARTA - Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar asked for the transformation of the UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Hospital to be accelerated. This hospital is encouraged not only to be a place of treatment, but also a stronger center of medical services, education, and research.

The instruction was conveyed by the Minister of Religion when receiving a visit from the Director of the UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Hospital, Syaifullah, at the Ministry of Religion Office, Banteng Square, Jakarta, Thursday (9/4/2026).

The Minister of Religion highlighted the strengthening of the role of UIN Hospitals located in Pondok Gede and Ciputat, South Tangerang. He asked that the remaining land that was still available be immediately utilized to build supporting facilities so that hospital services would be upgraded.

"The remaining vacant areas must immediately be built with strategic facilities. We want the UIN Hospital not only to be a place of treatment, but to be the face of the Ministry of Religion's modern and complete health services," said Nasaruddin.

He also paid great attention to the acceleration program for teaching hospitals. This program is prepared to support the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Health Sciences of UIN, as well as strengthening the practice of clinics for prospective doctors and specialists.

According to the Minister of Religion, educational hospitals are not enough to be a place to learn practice. UIN hospitals must also be a space for research collaboration to encourage academic-based medical innovation. Therefore, achieving superior accreditation in accordance with government regulations is a target that cannot be delayed.

The main focus of the Minister of Law and Human Rights was on the education of specialist doctors. He emphasized that this program must not be left behind. The areas that are still available, he said, need to be developed immediately to support medical education, especially specializations.

"Specialist doctor education should not be late. We need more experts who are born from the womb of UIN," he said.

Director of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Hospital, Syaifullah, said that his party is now completing the draft of the accreditation requirements for educational hospitals to be submitted to the relevant ministry.

This step was taken so that medical education under UIN could run more integrated. With the status of a teaching hospital, the education process from undergraduate to specialist is expected to be more neatly controlled, both in terms of quality and curriculum.

"Our vision is to ensure that all UIN FK students receive the same high-quality clinical education standards," said Syaifullah.
