Three Former Regents of Nunukan Investigated by the Kaltara Prosecutor's Office, New Phase of Investigation of the Mining Sector

TANJUNG SELOR - The North Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) has summoned three former Regents of Nunukan Regency to be questioned regarding alleged criminal acts in the mining sector.

The three former regional heads are Abdul Hafid Achmad who served from 2001-2011, Basri from 2011-2016, and Asmin Laura Hafid who served from 2016-2025.

Head of the Legal Information Section (Kasi Penkum) of the Kaltara Prosecutor's Office, Andi Sugandi revealed that of the three, Basri had previously undergone an examination by the Special Criminal Investigation (Pidsus) investigators at the Kaltara Prosecutor's Office, Tanjung Selor, Bulungan Regency on Wednesday, March 11.

Meanwhile, two other former Nunukan Regents, Abdul Hafid Achmad and Asmin Laura Hafid, have also been scheduled to be questioned by investigators at different times.

"Mr. Hafid has also fulfilled the call of the investigators on Wednesday, April 8, yesterday. while Laura's mother, who we had scheduled for Monday, April 6, did not come without confirmation," said Andi Sugandi, Thursday, April 9.

Andi revealed that the three former Regents of Nunukan were also asked for information regarding the extent of their knowledge regarding the licensing process and mining activities that took place while they were in office.

"The information obtained includes aspects of licensing and mining activities during the leadership of the person concerned," said Andi.

"In the process of examination, the investigators asked more than 30 questions to Mr. Basri and 40 questions to Mr. Hafid. This is to dig up information related to the case being investigated," he continued.

Previously, continued Andi, investigators had also asked for information from a number of officials in the Nunukan Regency Government environment related to mining sector licensing and management.

Among them, the Head of the Rights and Registration Section at the Nunukan Regency Land Office. Head of the Legal Section, Head of the Economy and Natural Resources Section of the Nunukan Regional Secretariat, and Head of the Nunukan Regency Investment and One-Stop Service Agency (DPMPTSP).

"The examination of these witnesses was carried out after the search some time ago, the investigators also seized hundreds of documents, both in written and electronic form," he explained.

Andi menegaskan, proses hukum masih berjalan dan seluruh pihak yang dipanggil saat ini berstatus sebagai saksi.

"Investigators also open the possibility of summoning other parties as the case progresses," he said.
