Electricity Disruption Causes a Number of MRT Jakarta Stations to Blackout
JAKARTA - A number of MRT Jakarta stations experienced operational disruptions due to power supply problems on Thursday, April 9 afternoon.
Head of the Corporate Secretary Division of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), Rendy Primartantyo, said this incident had an impact on facilities at several stations, especially those on the elevated line.
"PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) said that there had been operational disruptions at several stations on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 17.57 WIB," said Rendy in his statement, Thursday, April 9.
The disruption was triggered by power supply constraints from PT PLN (Persero), especially in the system in the CSW area. As a result, a number of station facilities were temporarily out of service.
"This operational disruption is caused by constraints on electricity supply from the PLN (CSW) side which resulted in some station facilities, such as lighting, elevators, escalators, and several other facilities experiencing disruptions. All elevated stations experienced a blackout, but now it has been successfully restored," he said.
MRT Jakarta stated that it had taken quick action to restore service conditions, including coordinating with relevant parties to ensure that operations were back to normal.
"MRT Jakarta has taken steps to handle and normalize quickly and continues to coordinate with relevant parties to ensure that services can return to normal," said Rendy.
Currently, officers are still on the ground to monitor the condition and ensure that services run well for users.
"We apologize for the inconvenience, the safety of MRT Jakarta Customers remains our priority," he added.
