Japanese Car Dealers Many Closed in Indonesia, This is the Response of the Minister of Industry Agus

JAKARTA - Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita spoke up in response to the phenomenon of closing Japanese brand car dealers and switching to Chinese car dealers recently.

Agus said that the phenomenon of closing several dealers of Japanese vehicle brands was a challenge for Japanese brands, which was part of the dynamics of the automotive market in the country.

"Regarding Japanese car dealers that are closed, I think it is also a challenge for Japanese brands. Because all of this, right, is related to the market, so he has to be able to adjust what the market wants in Indonesia," Agus told reporters after the Launch of the Book Ginandjar Kartasasmita Dedication From Time to Time in Jakarta, Thursday, April 9.

According to Agus, Japanese brand car manufacturers should be able to see the development of the automotive market in Indonesia, which is currently electric vehicles or electric vehicles (EV) are actively and in demand by the Indonesian people.

"Japanese manufacturers must also be able to see, start reading policies, we will be faster in shifting to the use of EV-based cars," he said.

Moreover, at this time, Agus did not deny that the government was accelerating electric vehicles as a form of anticipation of the impact of the conflict in the Middle East on energy, especially fuel.

"This is a very remarkable lesson from the conflict in the Middle East. I think Japanese manufacturers should be able to see that we will shift to that (EV) and this is a direct direction from President (Prabowo) to be able to immediately be full of EV, whether it's a motorcycle or a car, including trucks, buses as well. So Japanese car manufacturers must be able to adjust," he explained.

Previously, Honda car dealers had closed their operations not long ago.

Now, it's the turn of the Honda car dealer located in the Pondok Pinang area, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, to stop its services.

"We Honda Pondok Pinang, say goodbye. Thank you for your support and trust in us," wrote @Hondaponpin, some time ago.
