Indonesia's Mixed Doubles at BAC 2026 Finished

JAKARTA - The Indonesian mixed doubles at the Badminton Asia Championship (BAC) or the 2026 Asian Badminton Championship is certain to be exhausted after Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu and Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah suffered defeat in the second round.

Jafar/Felisha, who are seeded seventh, were eliminated from the tournament after a three-game match against Kim Jae Hyeon/Jang Ha Jeong (South Korea) with a score of 21-23, 22-20, 10-21 on Thursday, April 9, 2026, afternoon WIB.

"It's true that the result was a loss, even though the chance to win was actually quite big. It was able to get out of the pressure in the second game, but the third game had many unnecessary mistakes," said Felisha in a statement.

Felisha explained that the South Korean doubles are known for their very strong defensive game. In addition, their game plan is also not in line with expectations so that

"The original plan was actually to play attacking and not many lobs, it just turned out that they quickly changed the pattern, they lifted the ball a lot first so that from the beginning they didn't want to get into our pattern," he said.

Jafar also acknowledged the good defense possessed by Kim/Jang. He said that as a new pair, the South Korean representative had advantages such as a front block and also very good variations.

"I have to be able to play more consistently, not make unnecessary mistakes, and also have to add power, especially with the slow ball conditions like here," he said.

Moments after Jafar/Felisha, defeat immediately approached Amri/Nita. They were bent by the first seeded host China, Feng Yan Zhe/Huang Dong Ping, with a score of 10-21, 15-21.

"In terms of quality, the opponent's punch is very good, very mature so that when we have the momentum we want and we can't use it, our confidence can't increase anymore. So it's still stressful and uncomfortable," said Amri.

Overall, there are ten Indonesian representatives who have qualified for the second round of this tournament. So far, only one ticket to the quarterfinal round has been secured by Jonatan Christie.
