Changan as a global automotive brand from China under the auspices of the Indomobil Group, presents a surprise in 2026 by introducing the Deepal S05 REEV. This model is one of three new vehicles prepared for the Indonesian market, marking the first appearance of Range Extender Electric Vehicle (REEV) technology in the country.

The official launch of the Deepal S05 REEV is scheduled to take place in the second half of this year. The presence of the Deepal S05 REEV is Changan's first step in expanding the line of electrified vehicles in Indonesia.

This model targets consumers who want to experience the thrill of driving an electric car, but still need more flexibility in everyday use, especially in the midst of an evolving charging infrastructure.

This launch is also part of Changan's product expansion strategy throughout 2026. After first presenting Lumin and Deepal S07, the company ensures that it will add three new models by the end of the year.

"We see positive opportunities in line with the rapid development of the electrification vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia. After presenting Changan Lumin and Deepal S07, we are ready to introduce three new models gradually by the end of this year to expand Changan's portfolio in the country and provide more choices for consumers," said Changan Indonesia CEO Setiawan Surya, in Jakarta, Thursday, April 9.

Deepal S05 REEV is designed to address common concerns about the range of electric vehicles. This SUV is fully powered by an electric motor to provide a smooth and silent driving experience.

On the other hand, the presence of an internal generator machine serves to keep the battery power supply optimal without having to completely rely on public charging stations. In terms of design, this vehicle carries the 'Symbiotic Aesthetics' philosophy and combines modern and functional elements, with the front inspired by the wings of a spaceship.

The side is equipped with frameless doors and electric door handles that emphasize the premium impression. Dimensionally, the Deepal S05 REEV has a length of 4,620 mm, a width of 1,900 mm, a height of 1,600 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,880 mm.

The proportion creates a balanced and modern look, the support of the 18-inch rim also strengthens the sporty character while presenting a solid stance on the road. The back features a sleek LED lamp design that emphasizes the futuristic impression.

Meanwhile, the diffuser on the bumper not only serves an aesthetic function, but also helps improve the vehicle's aerodynamics. Overall, this design is able to produce a drag coefficient of up to 0.25 Cd, which has an impact on increased energy efficiency and driving stability.
