The story of three Indonesian creators exploring the beautiful side of Hong Kong nature

JAKARTA - Behind the glitz of skyscrapers and the bustle of the city, Hong Kong turns out to have a diverse and easily accessible natural landscape.

Starting from the beach with clear water to mountain trails for hiking, the other side of this city presents a different experience that is far from the impression of a mere metropolitan.

This experience was felt directly by Indonesian creators who explored various outdoor destinations in Hong Kong, such as Nik Putra, Vanessa Amanda and Arvino. They found that in a short time from the city center, tourists can already enjoy the beautiful natural atmosphere, making Hong Kong a destination that is not only dynamic, but also offers practical and beginner-friendly adventures.

Some of the areas that are often destinations include Sai Kung, known for its rocky coastline and clear sea water, as well as Plover Cove Reservoir, which offers cycling and trekking trails with panoramic views of the vast waters.

Meanwhile, Cheung Chau presents a more relaxed atmosphere with a still thick local feel.

Regional Director Southeast Asia Hong Kong Tourism Board, Liew Chian Jia, said that tourists' interest is now beginning to shift to experiences that are closer to nature.

"Hong Kong is not only known as an urban destination, but also offers easy access to various exciting nature adventures," he said at a press conference: Celebrating Nature and City Adventures in Hong Kong, in Jakarta, recently.

This view is in line with the experience of Indonesian content creators who also explore the natural side of Hong Kong. Niky Putra admitted that he initially had the perception that Hong Kong was only synonymous with tall buildings.

"For me, Hong Kong has always been synonymous with skyscrapers and the city's glitter. But after being there, I was surprised to see how quickly and easily we can reach the mountains, beaches, or quiet little islands," he said.

A similar thing was conveyed by Arvino who assessed that outdoor tourism in Hong Kong is practical and friendly for beginners.

"We don't need to make complicated plans. Overall, Hong Kong feels very friendly to Indonesian tourists who want to try outdoor activities for the first time," he said.

Meanwhile, Vanessa Amanda highlighted the hiking experience which she thought was one of the most interesting activities while in Hong Kong.

"I like all outdoor tours in Hong Kong, but if I have to choose, I enjoy hiking the most because the trails are beautiful and friendly enough for beginners," he said.

In terms of outdoor equipment industry, EIGER Adventure sees Hong Kong as an example of a destination that is able to combine two different characters. EIGER's Product Marketing Manager Satria Nurzaman said that exploration does not always have to be done in extreme terrain.

"Hong Kong is an interesting place, where urban energy and natural landscapes do not compete with each other, but rather coexist and can be enjoyed by anyone," he explained.

He also added that EIGER has been encouraging exploration in various fields, ranging from expeditions to the world's highest mountains to other extreme areas, and sees Hong Kong as a destination that offers a different experience due to its accessibility.

This development shows that Hong Kong not only offers a dynamic city life, but also space for tourists to enjoy nature in a more relaxed and inclusive way.

Moreover, the short distance and adequate facilities, outdoor tourism in Hong Kong is an interesting alternative, especially for those who want to try a new experience without having to face extreme challenges.
