Indonesia Welcomes Iran and United States Ceasefire

Jakarta - The Indonesian government views the ceasefire between Iran and the United States as a step that can encourage global de-escalation and reflect the good faith of both parties to resolve conflicts through diplomacy.

In addition, Indonesia also hopes that this effort can be a good start towards a permanent peace between the two parties. This was conveyed by Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Yvonne Mewengkang, Wednesday, April 8.

Yvonne said that Indonesia views this momentum as a positive first step that can encourage a sustainable peaceful settlement.

He added that Indonesia will continue to emphasize the importance of all parties to refrain from maximum restraint, respect sovereignty and territorial integrity, and prioritize dialogue and diplomacy in resolving conflicts.

Therefore, the government will continue to support every constructive diplomatic effort, including those that can develop into a permanent settlement and prioritize the protection of civilians.
