UAE Assures Foreigners of Safety Amid Regional Tensions

JAKARTA - The Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Indonesia, Abdulla Salem Aldhaheri, confirmed that all foreign citizens in his country were in a safe condition amid rising tensions in the Middle East region.

"I confirm that the United Arab Emirates remains safe and stable. More than 200 foreign nationals remain in a safe and harmonious condition," Aldhaheri said at a press conference, quoted by Antara Wednesday, April 8 evening.

He ensured that the defense system and institutions in the United Arab Emirates remained optimal, so that community activities, including foreigners, were not disrupted.

According to him, this stability is also supported by strong economic conditions, including the banking sector with high liquidity and solid capital.

However, Aldhaheri admitted that the impact of the conflict in the Middle East region has a global effect, especially on the energy sector and supply chain.

He explained that around 20 percent of the world's oil supply and liquefied natural gas (LNG) trade pass through the Strait of Hormuz, so disruptions in the region could trigger higher energy prices and international logistics costs.

"This is not just a regional issue, but also a global issue that has an impact on many countries, including Indonesia," he said.

On that occasion, Aldhaheri also emphasized that the UAE government continues to monitor the situation and ensure the safety of all citizens, including the international community living in the country.
