Strengthen the Global Payment Ecosystem, Livin’ by Mandiri Introduces QR Feature between Countries in South Korea

JAKARTA - Bank Mandiri continues to strengthen its commitment to playing the role of a strategic partner of the government in encouraging national digital transformation through strengthening the connectivity of cross-country payment systems. In line with Bank Indonesia's initiative to expand the acceptance and interconnection of cross-country digital payments, this bank with the issuer code BMRI presents the QR Antar Negara feature on the Livin' by Mandiri application which can now be used in South Korea.

SVP Digital Retail Banking Group Bank Mandiri Yanto Masyap stated that this step is a form of integrated synergy between the financial industry and regulators in building a globally connected payment system. At the same time, it is part of Bank Mandiri's contribution to supporting the Government's efforts to strengthen the sovereignty of the digital economy and national competitiveness.

Through this feature, customers can make transactions at various merchants in South Korea by simply scanning a QRIS-standard QR without having to exchange cash. Just by scanning the QR of a merchant with the SeoulPay logo, the transaction can be completed in real-time. The presence of this service strengthens the synergy of the cross-border service ecosystem that is increasingly seamless, while presenting a practical, safe, and efficient transaction experience for customers abroad.

Yanto continued, this development is also a manifestation of sustainable excellence from Livin' by Mandiri as a digital platform that continues to adapt to customer needs. Previously, the QR Inter-Country service was available in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Japan, showing Mandiri Bank's consistency in expanding global connectivity.

"This innovation aims to provide convenience for customers in overseas transactions. Through the development of this feature, we want to ensure that customers can transact more easily and conveniently in various international destinations. The presence of QR Inter-State in South Korea also expands access to the use of QRIS, so that daily transaction needs such as food and shopping can be done practically," said Yanto in an official statement, Wednesday, April 8.

In addition to payment convenience, Livin' by Mandiri also presents flexibility in funding sources, ranging from savings accounts to Mandiri credit cards. This gives customers more control in managing finances while abroad, while creating value for the community through increased digital financial inclusion and literacy.

To complement financial needs, this bank with a gold ribbon logo also provides a multicurrency account opening service in won (KRW) currency that can be connected to Mandiri Debit. Customers can withdraw cash at Visa-branded ATMs throughout South Korea without exchange rates, making this solution even more comprehensive.

Until February 2026, Livin' by Mandiri has recorded solid performance with more than 38.5 million users and total transaction value reaching IDR 802 trillion. The adoption of QRIS continues to increase, reflected by the users of the QR Pay feature which reached 9.2 million or grew 23 percent year-on-year, with transaction value up 43 percent to IDR 38.9 trillion.

Meanwhile, the QR Cross-Border service showed more aggressive growth, with the number of users increasing 23 percent YoY to 13 thousand and transaction value jumping 52 percent YoY to IDR 37.4 billion. This reflects the high need for practical and integrated cross-border payment solutions.

In the future, Bank Mandiri will continue to expand the reach of QR Inter-State to other international destinations as part of its commitment to present adaptive and relevant digital innovations. This step also strengthens the company's contribution in accelerating the inclusive and sustainable national digital economy.
