Prabowo: Global Crisis Opportunity to Accelerate National EBT Development

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the crisis currently facing the world due to war is an opportunity for Indonesia to accelerate the development of renewable energy (RE) for national resilience.

"This world crisis for me is an opportunity to accelerate our steps. It makes us more focused. It means our strategy is right, but we must accelerate our energy must be renewable," said Prabowo in a briefing to all ministers, officials at the I level of ministries/institutions to the heads of state-owned enterprises (BUMN) at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, April 8.

Prabowo also encouraged energy self-sufficiency by developing vegetable fuel (biofuel) from cassava and corn as an alternative to solar and gasoline. This step aims to reduce fuel imports by utilizing the wealth of the country's natural resources.

"And we can from coal, we can produce solar and gasoline from coal, from cassava, from corn," he said.

Prabowo said Indonesia has a strong economic foundation and energy resilience to face the global crisis.

According to him, Indonesia is relatively safe from the direct impact of global energy supply disruptions because it has independent energy sources.

"It turns out that after studying, we have a fairly strong economic strength," said Prabowo.

"Because our oil and gas sources are not too many that pass through the Strait of Hormuz. We can be another alternative," he continued.

On the same occasion, Prabowo predicted that the crisis facing the world would not last long.

He hopes that the transformation of the EBT system can be implemented faster in a short time.

"What I consider short-term, what I consider critical is the next 12 months. After 12 months, we will be very strong," he said.
