Mensesneg: President asks for leakages to be cut, fuel supply for a year must be safe

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto asked government officials to move faster, more efficiently, and more closely to close leaks. The message was conveyed during a four-hour government working meeting attended by complete executive elements to level I.

The Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi said the President in the meeting gave directions, work guidance, and also expressed appreciation because in the last one and a half years a number of government programs have begun to show results that are considered quite significant.

However, the praise did not make the brakes stop. The President, said Prasetyo, actually asked all levels to work harder, faster, more productive, and more efficient.

"Reduce leaks and so on," Prasetyo told reporters at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta, Wednesday, April 8.

One of the President's emphasis is on energy reserves. According to Prasetyo, what the President meant by a one-year reserve is to ensure a safe fuel supply until the end of the year or for the next 12 months, at least in terms of supply.

In other words, the government is first asked to settle the issue of energy availability, not just talk about targets on paper. The supply must be safe first, then the next step is accelerated.

At the same time, the government is also asked to start reducing its dependence on fossil-based energy. Prasetyo said that this effort would be carried out in parallel with securing supplies, by encouraging an accelerated transition to renewable energy.
