Prabowo Responds to Criticism of Often Going Abroad: I Ensure Oil Must Go Everywhere
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto explained that his series of overseas visits to a number of countries aimed at securing oil supplies for domestic needs.
This was conveyed by Prabowo in a presidential briefing attended by ministers, deputy ministers, heads of agencies, and officials at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta.
"It is said that Prabowo is traveling abroad, he is happy to travel abroad. Brothers, to secure oil, I have to go everywhere," said Prabowo as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 8.
The President emphasized that in the midst of volatile global geopolitical situations, the government needs to actively communicate and cooperate with various countries to maintain national economic stability, especially the energy sector.
A number of foreign visits carried out by the President are part of this effort. In the near future, Prabowo also stated that he would return to carrying out official business with a similar mission.
"I want to leave again to a country. Later when I leave, you know where. Secure (oil) too," said the Head of State.
Previously, President Prabowo had visited Japan on March 29-31 and the Republic of Korea on March 31 to April 1. The visit was part of efforts to strengthen economic cooperation, including in the energy sector.
Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia's foreign policy would continue to adhere to the principle of free activity, by building good relations with various countries in order to create stability and mutually beneficial cooperation.
The President also expressed optimism about Indonesia's condition amid global uncertainty. "I am confident, there is no such thing for me 'dark Indonesia'. Indonesia is bright at a time when many countries are difficult," said Prabowo.
On that occasion, Prabowo also stated that the presidency was not a light job and did not have time off because it demanded constant work in carrying out state duties.
"So, standing here, brothers, don't think this is an easy job. Those who want to be president, congratulations. True, I've already done it. So, I have to work hard, there's no vacation," said the President.
