Strengthen Environmental-Based Economic Competitiveness, PT Timah Wins PROPER Gold

PT Timah (Persero) Tbk showed positive performance not only in terms of operations, but also in creating sustainable economic value through environmental management.

This is reflected in the achievement of the PROPER Gold and Green awards for the period 2024-2025 given by the Ministry of Environment/Environmental Control Agency.

The award was handed directly by the Minister of Environment and Forestry Hanif Faisol Nurofiq to the Deputy President Director of PT TIMAH, Harry Budi Sidharta, on Tuesday, April 7.

The achievement of the Gold PROPER by the Mentok Processing & Refinery Division is an indicator that the implementation of environmentally conscious business practices is able to run in harmony with the improvement of the company's performance.

In addition, PT Timah also received the Green PROPER for the Kundur Processing & Refinery unit and the Division Engineering Operation Excellent (Balai Karya), this achievement strengthens the company's position in integrating sustainability aspects into its business value chain.

Minister of Environment / Environmental Control Agency, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, emphasized his commitment to strengthening supervision and law enforcement in the environmental sector.

Meanwhile, the PROPER program itself is a strategic instrument for the government to encourage the business world not only to comply with regulations, but also to create efficiency, innovation, and wider economic impact for the community.

In addition, companies with good environmental performance are judged to have higher competitiveness and are able to manage long-term risks more effectively.

In line with Prabowo Subianto's direction, the government has set up the Environmental Control Agency through Presidential Regulation Number 183 of 2024.

This policy strengthens the role of the central government in carrying out supervision, control, and law enforcement in the field of environment.

Starting in 2026, PROPER will transform into a more comprehensive supervision system, so that it can increase compliance while encouraging the creation of a healthy and sustainable industrial ecosystem.

On this occasion, Hanif expressed his appreciation to the companies that managed to achieve the PROPER ranking, and this is a reflection of compliance and the real contribution of the business world in maintaining the environment.

However, he reminded that this achievement must continue to be maintained and improved, because PROPER is not just a symbol, but a representation of a real commitment to maintaining environmental sovereignty.

"We hope that companies can maintain and even improve their performance. Again this is not a symbolic issue, it is a matter of our environmental sovereignty. We must not then squander the trust that has been instilled from the assessment conducted by the Ministry of Environment," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy President Director of PT Timah (Persero) Tbk Harry Budi Sidharta stated that this award is an incentive for the company to continue to improve environmental performance while strengthening the long-term business foundation.

"PT Timah is committed to always carrying out operational activities in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, including environmental management and community empowerment in the company's operational areas," said Harry.

Harry added that his party continues to strengthen environmental management efforts through various initiatives such as eco innovations in the company's business processes and social innovation through programs to maintain the archipelago that integrate environmental aspects.

"PT Timah will continue to strengthen collaboration with the government, community, and stakeholders to support the creation of a balance between business activities and environmental sustainability. Compliance with environmental aspects is not only a duty but also a joint effort to support business sustainability and community welfare," he concluded.
