President Calls World Crisis an Opportunity, Asks Government to Save and Work Faster
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto does not see the global crisis solely as a threat. In the midst of war in the Middle East and soaring energy prices, he actually calls this situation an opportunity to force the government to work more efficiently, suppress leaks, and accelerate the energy transition.
In a briefing at the State Palace, Wednesday, April 8, Prabowo said Indonesia was in a relatively safer position than many other countries. After studying data and figures, he said the challenge was there, but it was still under control.
"This crisis for me is an opportunity," said Prabowo.
According to the President, global difficulties should actually be used to improve the way the government works. He asked that there be no waste, leaks, let alone corruption.
"We have to work better, more
"We must not be wasteful, there must be no leaks, no corruption," he said.
Prabowo also emphasized that energy strategies must be accelerated. He said Indonesia has large reserves and opens up the possibility of processing energy from coal, cassava, to corn.
In addition, he asked all ministries, agencies, and SOEs to stop sectoral thinking. According to the President, the government must move with one language and one work plan.
"There should not be one ministry thinking about its own institution. We have to work together," said Prabowo.
The direction that wants to be built is that the crisis should not just be watched. Everyone is asked to make it an excuse to get things done faster.
