WhatsApp Introduces Native App on CarPlay, Sending Messages Now Easier from the Dashboard of a Car
JAKARTA - WhatsApp has officially expanded support for CarPlay by presenting a full native application, allowing users to access chats and calls directly from the car screen.
Previously, WhatsApp integration on CarPlay only relied on voice commands through Siri. Now, with the latest update, users get a much more complete and intuitive experience.
This new interface displays a list of recent chats, call history, and a special tab for favorite contacts. Users can also send messages directly via voice dictation or make a call with just a few touches - without having to touch the iPhone.
This step is part of Meta's efforts to expand the WhatsApp ecosystem to various platforms, as well as increase the convenience of communication while driving.
This feature has previously been tested in beta for some time, and is now widely available through an app update on the iPhone. To use it, users simply update the WhatsApp app to the latest version and connect it to a vehicle compatible with CarPlay.
Functionally, the presence of this native application brings WhatsApp more in line with Apple's built-in messaging application in terms of vehicle integration. This also answers the needs of users who are increasingly dependent on real-time communication, even when on the road.
But behind this ease, there is still a note: using the messaging feature while driving must still prioritize safety. Fortunately, the voice-based approach and simple display in CarPlay are designed to minimize distractions.
In short, WhatsApp is now not only in the palm of your hand - but also on the dashboard. Just make sure the focus stays on the road, not on the chat that suddenly becomes a drama.
