Bogor City Proposes PSEL, Target to Process 1,000 Tons of Waste per Day

BOGOR - Bogor Mayor Dedie A. Rachim emphasized the readiness of the Bogor City Government (Pemkot) in supporting the acceleration of waste processing into electricity (PSEL) as a sustainable solution.

According to Dedie, the program which is encouraged by the central government is a great opportunity to solve the waste problem in an integrated manner, not only in Bogor City but also in the surrounding areas.

"This is a great opportunity to solve the waste problem together, not only in Bogor City, but also in the Bogor Raya area and agglomeration, so that the benefits are really felt by the community," said Dedie, Tuesday, April 7.

He assessed that cross-regional collaboration was the key to dealing with increasingly complex waste problems, as the volume of waste generated in urban areas increased.

The Bogor City Government itself proposed the construction of a PSEL facility in the Kayumanis area which is targeted to be able to process around 1,000 tons of waste per day and generate electricity of 10 to 15 megawatts.

Dedie emphasized that the development of PSEL is not only aimed at reducing waste generation, but also creating added value through environmentally friendly renewable energy.

In addition, the Bogor City Government is committed to strengthening synergy with the central and other regional governments in realizing a modern and integrated waste management system.

This step is in line with the national policy to accelerate the development of PSEL as a response to the emergency waste conditions in a number of regions, including the Jabodetabek and Bandung Raya areas.
