PKH Task Force Secures 1,699 Ha of Mine Opening Area in Murung Raya

JAKARTA - As much as 1,699 hectares (ha) of land has been saved by the Forest Area Enforcement Task Force (Satgas PKH) from the area of mine openings owned by PT Asmin Koalindo Tuhup (AKT) since January 26, 2026.

Apart from the seizure of land, investigators from the Attorney General's Office for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of the Indonesian Attorney General's Office have temporarily appointed one suspect as the beneficial owner.

The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia acting as the Steering Team of the Forest Area Regulation Task Force (Satgas PKH) visited the location of the illegal mine regulation owned by PT AKT.

Bahlil emphasized that the legal status of PT AKT, which previously held a coal mining work agreement (PKP2B) permit, had been revoked since 2017. However, the company is suspected of still continuing to operate until now without a legal basis.

"Indeed, the status of this mine's permit has been revoked since 2017 so that the mining operations carried out since 2017 until now do not have legal legality. Therefore, the existing process we go through while still paying attention to the procedures," said Bahlil, Tuesday, April 7.

In line with this step, the PKH Task Force has recaptured an area of 1,699 hectares (ha) which was previously used as a mine opening area by PT AKT.

"Today's activities are a follow-up to the legal steps that have been taken by the PKH Task Force since January 2026. After verification, validation by the PKH Task Force there are indications of criminal acts, the PKH Task Force coordinates with existing law enforcement, then on March 26, the Jampidsus investigator of the Prosecutor's Office named ST as a suspect as a Beneficial ownership along with all affiliated companies with PT AKT," said PKH Task Force Spokesperson Barita Simanjuntak.

According to Barita, this firm step reflects the commitment of the PKH Task Force in enforcing the rules in accordance with Presidential Regulation Number 5 of 2025, as well as ensuring that forest areas are utilized as much as possible for the prosperity of the people.

"In carrying out law enforcement, the PKH Task Force remains consistent and is not limited to the PT AKT area in Murung Raya Central Kalimantan alone, but the Task Force has also taken steps to verify and identify all forest areas in Indonesia," said Barita.

He also reminded all business actors to comply with applicable regulations in order to avoid legal action.

"We appreciate all legal business processes, but must also comply with the provisions of regulations that apply throughout the Republic of Indonesia so that the vulnerability in the management of illegally used forest areas can be ended in accordance with the mandate of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution," he said.

The PKH Task Force itself was formed by the government to restore state control over forest areas that were illegally controlled. Until August 2025, this Task Force has managed to return more than 3.3 million hectares of land, some of which are used for conservation and food security, while the rest are still in the administrative process.

Together with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources as well as the support of the Prosecutor's Office (Jampidsus), the TNI, and the National Police, the PKH Task Force targets 4.2 million hectares of illegal mines to be managed so that they can again provide benefits for the country and the community.
