PU Ministry Budget 2026 is Adjusted to Rp. 12.71 Trillion to Maintain the State Budget Deficit
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) revealed that there were plans to achieve budget efficiency of IDR 12.71 trillion for DIPA in the fiscal year (FY) to maintain the health of the national fiscal.
Minister PU Dody Hanggodo explained that the efficiency measures were as mandated by President Prabowo Subianto.
It is known that the implementation of efficiency is carried out through the mechanism of optimizing the spending ceiling as a response to global economic dynamics and efforts to reduce the deficit of the State Budget (APBN) 2026.
"This sharpening of spending is based on the Minister of Finance's letter No: S-181/MK.03/2026 dated April 1, 2026 through the optimization of the ceiling of IDR 12.71 trillion in order to mitigate the global conditions and keep the state budget deficit under control," said Dody in a Working Meeting with Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, April 7.
To note, the initial budget ceiling of the PU Ministry in 2026 was set at IDR 118.89 trillion. With the efficiency plan, the remaining budget ceiling is IDR 106.18 trillion.
Dody emphasized that at this time his party was adjusting the details of the allocation of internal organizational units with the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) to determine the priority of projects to continue.
He said the process of revising the budget was targeted to be completed by mid-month before being officially presented to the DPR RI for final approval.
"We have not submitted the details (of the project output plan with the new budget) for approval at Commission V because we are still revising the budget together with the related organizational units and the Ministry of Finance which has a deadline of April 15, 2026," he explained.
Previously, the Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa responded to the discourse on cutting the salaries of ministers and members of the Indonesian House of Representatives as part of efforts to increase government budget efficiency.
The efficiency measures are carried out to keep the state budget deficit below 3 percent.
Purbaya said he did not know whether the policy would also apply to members of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
However, he emphasized that he did not mind if the salaries of ministers were cut, but the final decision on this matter was entirely in the hands of President Prabowo Subianto.
"If (cut salaries) the DPR I don't know. If the minister, well, it's okay, but later we'll see what the President's (Prabowo) policy is like," he told the media, Monday, April 6.
