Kaltara DPRD Chairman Achmad Djufrie Emphasizes Not Interfering in the Legal Process, DPRD Works Collectively

TANJUNG SELOR - The Chairman of the Regional Representative Council (DPRD) of North Kalimantan Province (Kaltara), Achmad Djufrie, gave clarification regarding the alleged intervention in the investigation process of the alleged fake diploma case that ensnared the Bulungan DPRD member, Lausa Laida from the Gerindra Faction.

He emphasized the importance of upholding the principle of presumption of innocence in every legal process that is running.

"Until now, the legal process is still in the investigation stage, so all parties must respect the ongoing mechanism and not rush to draw conclusions," said Achmad Djufrie, who also serves as the Chairman of the Gerindra Party DPC Bulungan Regency, Tuesday, April 7.

"In every legal process, we are obliged to uphold the principle of presumption of innocence. The person concerned must be considered innocent before there is a court decision with the force of law," he continued.

He also emphasized that there was no intervention from his party in the ongoing legal process. Moreover, law enforcement officers have independence and professionalism in handling each case.

"I have great respect for the independence of law enforcement officers. This process is entirely their responsibility and cannot be interfered with by anyone, including me," he said.

Achmad Djufrie also reminded the public to remain wise in responding to circulating information, and not to build opinions that can lead to judgment before a legal decision.

"Public opinion must remain based on the facts and applicable processes, so as not to create a wrong perception among the public," he said.

Djufrie revealed that in carrying out institutional functions, the DPRD works based on the principle of collegial politics in which every decision is made through a joint mechanism with all council members and is not a unilateral decision of the leadership.

"This DPRD works collectively and collegially. Every decision is the result of discussion and agreement with all council members, not the work of the chairman alone," he said.

Regarding ethical violations by the leadership and members of the council, the handling is carried out through the DPRD Honor Committee in accordance with applicable rules.

"Every aspiration is certainly respected, but the mechanism for dismissal is clearly regulated in the constitutional system," he said.

Djufrie added that his party had ensured that the Equipment of the Council (AKD) of the Kaltara DPRD had been fully formed since the beginning of the working period through a plenary meeting.

"The DPRD AKD has been fully formed through the plenary meeting mechanism as a form of collective work of all council members, and it has been regulated in the rules of procedure," he explained.

Achmad also emphasized his commitment to continue to encourage institutional transparency, including the improvement of public information systems such as official websites and the DPRD Legal Documentation and Information Network (JDIH).

"Regarding this DPRD JDIH, we will immediately fix it through the DPRD secretariat. I will continue to carry out my mandate by prioritizing integrity and the interests of the wider community. Criticism and input will be the basis for evaluation for us to continue to improve performance and maintain public trust," he concluded. (*)
