Police Contact Shoot 3 People Near Israeli Embassy in Turkey, 1 Suspect Dead

JAKARTA - At least one suspect was killed after three people were involved in a shootout with police officers near the Israeli Embassy (Kedubes) in Israel in Istanbul on Tuesday, April 7.

Citing NBC News, Turkish Minister of the Interior Mustafa Ciftci said one of the attackers had been disabled by the authorities and was suspected of "having links to an organization that exploits religion."

He added that the two attackers had been identified as siblings, with one of them having a criminal record related to drugs.

Istanbul Governor Davut Gul told local media that at least one suspect was killed and two police officers were injured.

This incident occurred after the Turkish Minister of Justice Akin Gurlek through his X social media account on Tuesday, April 7, said that his party was launching an investigation into reports of alleged shootings near the Israeli Embassy in Istanbul.

However, it is not clear whether the Israeli embassy in Turkey was a direct target.
