Turkish Government Investigates Alleged Shooting Incident at Israeli Embassy in Istanbul

JAKARTA - The Turkish government has launched an investigation into reports of alleged shootings in the area of the Israeli Embassy (Kedubes) in Besiktas District, Istanbul.

This was confirmed by the Minister of Justice of Turkey Akin Gurlek through his X social media account on Tuesday, April 7. However, it is unclear whether the Israeli Embassy was actually attacked.

Gurlek said the investigation was headed by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, with a deputy chief public prosecutor and two public prosecutors assigned to the investigation.

An Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesperson separately told The Jerusalem Post that the incident was under investigation.

However, he said, there are no employees at the Israeli Embassy in Istanbul at the moment.
