Minister Trenggono Pushes Red and White Fishing Village, 100 Points Targeted to Be Completed by the End of May

JAKARTA - Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said the government is speeding up the development of the Red and White Fishermen Village this year. From the initial target, 100 points are currently being worked on and all of them are targeted to be completed by the end of May 2026.

This was conveyed by Trenggono at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 7. According to him, the program was one of the discussions in a meeting with the President. "One of us is how the development of the Red and White Fishermen Village can be speeded up this year," said Trenggono.

He detailed, of the 100 points, 65 points entered the first phase and 35 points the second phase. According to him, all of them are now running in parallel.

Not only physical development is discussed. Trenggono said that the supervision of fishing villages is also a concern. Because, after being built, the area still needs to be maintained so that its function does not deviate.

After the first 100 points, the government is preparing a larger job in 2026. Trenggono said the next 1,000 fishing villages would be worked on in parallel with the main focus in the eastern part of Indonesia.

In addition, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries also reported the development of plans to procure ships through cooperation with the British government. However, for this project, the road is still long. According to Trenggono, the financing process is still being discussed through Bappenas. After that, it will only enter the Ministry of Finance before being further programmed.

"So the stages are still long," he said.

Even so, technical preparations have begun to be calculated. The government, said Trenggono, is analyzing the capacity of shipyards in the country, including which ones can work according to needs. The target is not small, in two years the ships must already be.
