Now Playing Festival Promoter Sued by PKPU Rp3.5 Billion

JAKARTA - In the midst of the excitement of the Indonesian music performance industry lately, PT Nada Promotama has to face a lawsuit for the Delay of Debt Payment Obligation (PKPU) at the Commercial Court at the Central Jakarta District Court.

The promoter behind the Now Playing Festival (NPF) was sued following alleged financial obligations amounting to billions of rupiah.

The legal action was taken by Doni Nugroho through a legal team from AJ Law. Based on the trial documents, the value of the obligations that have not been settled by PT Nada Promotama is estimated to touch Rp. 3,556,944,250.

The dispute has come under sharp scrutiny given the promoter's track record of handling large-scale music festivals such as Kerlap Kerlip to Lagu Laguan.

The plaintiffs stated that this legal path was the last attempt after the mediation that had been carried out previously did not produce concrete results. Certainty of payment for creditors is the main priority in this PKPU application.

"This PKPU application was filed as a legal step to obtain certainty for the settlement of payment obligations with a value of billions of rupiah. We hope that this process can provide clarity and legal protection for interested parties," said Imanuddin Arrahim as a lawyer to the media recently.

This condition is considered anomalous. The reason is, in the midst of the ongoing legal process, the Now Playing Festival still held a massive event in Bandung on March 14.

This phenomenon has sparked concerns about financial health in the creative industry ecosystem, especially for working partners who are directly involved in the field.

A number of parties are reminded to pay attention to the impact of this dispute, ranging from sound and stage production vendors, field crews, to ticket agents and sponsors. The transparency of the cash flow of massive scale projects is now a loud alarm for all actors in the entertainment industry so that there will be no time bomb after the event.

This case is now in the hands of the judge of the Commercial Court to be decided in accordance with the provisions of Law Number 37 of 2004 concerning Bankruptcy and PKPU. The results of the trial will determine the fate of the continuation of the business of PT Nada Promotama in the map of the music promoter industry in Indonesia.
