Israel Claims to Attack Dozens of Iranian Planes and Helicopters at Three Airports

JAKARTA - Israeli authorities on Monday announced that they had attacked dozens of planes and helicopters belonging to the Iranian Air Force at three airports in the capital Tehran.

In a statement, Israel said its air force "carried out a series of massive strikes against the Iranian Air Force at airports in Tehran throughout the night."

"Dozens of Israeli Air Force fighter jets carried out attacks on Iranian planes and helicopters, as well as infrastructure used for military purposes at three airports in Tehran: Bahram Airport, Mehrabad Airport, and Azmayesh Airport," the statement said, launching Anadolu (7/4).

There was no immediate comment from Iranian authorities on the Israeli military's claims.

Tensions in the Middle East have escalated since the US and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran on February 28, which has killed more than 1,340 people to date, including then Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The Mullah's country retaliated with drone strikes and missiles targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.

In addition, Iran also restricts the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, a waterway that is one of the veins of global oil and gas transportation.
