Minister Dody hopes that the additional budget of Rp. 6.35 trillion will be disbursed immediately, to be used for this.

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has ensured the need for acceleration in the allocation of the Additional Budget (ABT) of IDR 6.35 trillion in 2026 to maintain the continuation of post-disaster infrastructure rehabilitation and reconstruction projects in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.

Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo hopes that the additional budget can be realized immediately in the near future, so that the rehabilitation project that has been running can be continued until it is completed.

"In principle, we are ready to implement all the directions that have been agreed. However, the acceleration in the field depends very much on the availability and disbursement of the budget," said Dody in a written statement, Tuesday, April 7.

Overall, the funding needs for infrastructure handling in the three provinces reached IDR 73.98 trillion for the period 2025-2028. Meanwhile, for the 2026 fiscal year alone, the funding needs are estimated to reach IDR 25.40 trillion.

Dody explained that additional funds were needed to cover the funding gap in work that had begun since the emergency response period, such as road and bridge repairs to the plan to build a dam.

"Our main obstacle is budget constraints. We hope there will be an acceleration in disbursement so that work can continue and provide certainty of payment in the field," he said.

In terms of progress, the PU Ministry noted that the recovery of infrastructure had begun to show progress. In the raw water and clean water sectors, the handling progress has reached 72 percent.

A total of 165 out of 176 Drinking Water Supply Systems (SPAM) or about 94 percent have returned to function.

Meanwhile, in the connectivity sector, all 107 national roads and 43 national bridges that were affected have resumed full operation.

However, the recovery of regional infrastructure is still ongoing. Of the total regional bridges affected, only about 67 percent or as many as 1,181 bridges have been successfully restored.

In the residential sector, the government recorded the construction of 1,456 units of houses from the target of 1,545 units have been completed or about 93.22 percent.

In the future, the PU Ministry will also prepare long-term mitigation steps through the construction of 108 sabo dams in disaster-prone areas.

This program will be synergized with the Cash Work Compact (PKT) scheme to absorb local labor.
