Gibran Promises to Find Solutions for the Welfare of Honorer Teachers and PPPK in NTT

JAKARTA - Vice President (Wapres) Gibran Rakabuming Raka promises to find solutions to improve the welfare of honorarium teachers and contract teachers (PPPK) who teach at the Kaniti Inpres Elementary School, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

The promise was delivered directly by Gibran to teachers during a visit to the Inpres Kaniti Elementary School, which was recently renovated by the government.

"(For) teachers, I know there are still many shortcomings, but we will continue to try to find solutions, especially for PPPK and honorers," said Vice President Gibran to the teachers of the Inpres Kaniti Elementary School, Kupang, NTT, Monday, as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, April 7.

On the same occasion, Gibran also emphasized that the current government ensures that no teachers are affected through coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and the local government.

"That's why, yesterday we sent representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Finance to have a long discussion with the Governor (NTT, ed.). The point is that no one should be laid off," continued Gibran.

According to the Vice President, regardless of their employment status, teachers have the same goal, namely to educate children, including those who attend Kaniti Inpres Elementary School.

In his meeting with Vice President Gibran, the Head of the Kaniti Yuliana Nenabu Inpres Elementary School expressed his appreciation for the government which had improved the school, considering that previously the building where teaching and learning took place was in a less than decent state. Yuliana also expressed his hope that no educators at the Kaniti Inpres Elementary School would be laid off.

"We are allowed to convey our complaints, if possible (teachers) PPPK should not be dismissed, because there are 10 people here. If 10 people are dismissed, automatically the education at Kaniti Inpres SD will be greatly disrupted," said the Head of School to Vice President Gibran.

Gibran's visit to SD Inpres Kaniti, Monday, was the second time after the first visit in May 2025. During his first visit, Gibran distributed school supplies to teachers and students of SD Inpres Kaniti.

SD Inpres Kaniti is one of the schools renovated by the government in 2025 as a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto's order. The school revitalization lasted for 90 working days from October 1, 2025 to December 29, 2025. School renovations include the construction and repair of 11 old classrooms, three new classrooms, one administrative room, one teacher's residence, and one toilet unit.

After reviewing the results of the renovation of the school building, Gibran also took the time to visit to motivate students to be more enthusiastic about learning.

"Now the classroom is good, it has been built well. Children, siblings must be enthusiastic about learning. There should be no walls that are scratched," said Vice President Gibran to the students accompanied by their teachers.

SD Inpres Kaniti currently has a total of 420 students, divided into 16 study groups, and supported by 25 teachers and two education staff.
