Fahri Hamzah's Response to Saiful Mujani Video Calling "Drop Prabowo: Please Also Introspect

Jakarta - Deputy Minister of Housing and Settlements, also Deputy Chairman of the General Election of the Indonesian Party, Fahri Hamzah, responded to the uproar over the video recording of senior political observer Saiful Mujani who offended the effort to "overthrow" President Prabowo Subianto.

Fahri Hamzah reminded that political criticism of President Prabowo Subianto should not be pushed into an unconstitutional path. According to Fahri, in the midst of an uncertain global situation, the space for unconstitutional actions could actually open up new chaos.

This was conveyed by Fahri after being summoned by President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Monday, April 6.

According to Fahri, unconstitutional actions cannot be considered trivial. If it is left, everyone can feel entitled to justify ways outside the rules. If that is the case, democracy will actually turn into a door to chaos.

He reminded that the Indonesian constitutional system does not rely solely on the president. There are other branches of power that also bear the collective responsibility of the state to the community.

Therefore, criticism of the government should still be carried out through a legitimate mechanism, not through an invitation that hits the constitution. A video of Saiful Mujani's statement who was present at the Halal Bihalal forum in Utan Kayu, East Jakarta circulated on social media.

In the video, Saiful Mujani said the controversial statement was to "bring down" President Prabowo.
